A review of Rose & Crown by John Summers, York written on Thursday 17th of November 2011
The pub had fallen into disrepair and was quite dirty and outdated up to recent months. The new people have great plans and have acted on building a strong middle of the road trade. It is very clean, it has welcoming staff and the beer is being managed very well, with casks and guest casks prominent in the offering. The product range has improved significantly. They have installed a full new kitchen, which they were happy to show me round! It should be serving food early December 11. Apparently "quality, well presented pub food delivered by friendly staff" Sounds good. A great improvement all round to be fair. The people I met, Geoff and Paula have other pub interests and are obviously experienced in the business, but still took time to show me round and highlight the plans which look quite exciting. All in all a pleasant experience, customer service is alive and kicking and worth a visit! .
