"Cold chips hot coleslaw"

A review of Tanglewood by Stephen Barrett written on Thursday 15th of July 2010

My wife and I have just returned from an evening to be forgotten well I would if it had been a trip to a roadside cafe and not an overpriced so call Bistro Pub.

The welcome was warm and friendly and the menu was very good and lots of choice. We ordered and waited for our meals and were looking forward to something special.

We had quite a wait but that didn`t worry us, then the food arrived at the same time as 2 couples that had arrived 20 minutes after us. My burger was nicely arranged on a plate with a small chip pan with 8 cold chips in it, a very hot mini metal colander containing wilted warm salad, and an even hotter mini sauce pan containing a small portion of warm coleslaw. The burger was tasty but very dry and the roll was crispy not what you expect for over a tenner. MacDonald’s do it better and for a lot less. My wife`s meal of chicken supreme was not too bad expect that it was a bit dry. Which we think is due to the fact that our meals had been ready for sometime but left seating on the hot plate till someone felt like bring them out to us. I ate my burger which I now realize I shouldn`t of done as when we pointed out that we were not entirely happy the staff were not interested and put as down as a pair of old farts trying to get out of paying our bill. Not a hint from them that they may be at fault.

We live locally and have used the Tanglewood in its many different forms for 15 years this is the first time I have had reason to complain and it will be the last as I will not be setting foot in the place again. I will also make sure everyone I speak to knows how I feel about the Tanglewood.
