A review of Tanglewood by Anon written on Wednesday 2nd of June 2010
I went to The Tanglewood on Monday night with my family's party of six, and I can't believe 'York Resident' is describing the same restaurant. The new owners have spent a small fortune on fabulous decor, (what great toilets!), and it was an absolute dump before.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting and there are lots of tables by the windows. We've also used the sister Scarborough restaurant The Copper Horse in Seamer, where we met the owners. The photos and posters are not copies, they are originals from the owners' collection, which we found fascinating.
As to the food, ours was all good, and my sister is vegetarian who found plenty of choices, settling on the cheese & asparagus risotto which she really liked. The service was friendly, and considering the place only opened two days before, it was reasonably quick. The prices were about average for this sort of place - it can't be compared to a fish 'n' chip café. Good luck to The Tanglewood, it deserves to do well.
