Our short stay in York resulted in finding one of the best restaurant/pub just outside of York and well worth the drive along the back lanes on the A19 to Thirsk. Although the main restaurant was full so no table available we were offered a table in the main bar. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous. The food when arrived was superb. It was delightful with every mouthfull offering different flavours with an ahh and oh you must taste this from each of us. We left declaring we would return before we returned to Kent. We did.... not to be dissappointed the food was as outstanding as on our previous visit if not better. We have visited the Ivy restaurant and the Savoy in London and would put this local pub/restaurant on par with these. We understand this pub/restaurant has won the food of the year 2009 and is 100% worthy of this title and we will revisit when we return to York. .
