I have purchased over £30k materials and supplies for extension, walls and rebuild of outside buildings over last 2 years. We have used a number of merchants. Recently swapped to Jewsons because they had shorter lead times on deliveries and stocked Cooks Brown sand suitable for use in older listed property when others suppliers didn't. I found that their staff are so much more friendly and helpful than any of the others I had been dealing with that it made me want to go in. They clearly wanted my business. Deliveries much more reliable and shorter leads and always a smile. As someone with white collar background this was very refreshing as in other merchants I have always felt there was a certain superiority and unnecessary rudeness as though I was an amateur who didn't deserve good prices and felt I was being put to the back of the queue for drops. This went against my initial bias against them as being a sort of glorified B@Q for trade. No, they knowledgeable, friendly and good value..
