A review of Stakesby Holiday Flats by DM10 written on Monday 17th of July 2017
The accommodation is no frills, dated and of just about acceptable standards of cleanliness (the odd hair here and there). The owner of Stakesby, promised to be around upon arrival to take us round the flats but he failed to meet this arrangement. Upon arrival I found several pieces of furniture to be in poor condition and in some cases broken (he tried to charge after we left).
If you have no other option but to stay, ensure you ask for an inventory of the furniture before hand and check EVERYTHING upon arrival as, this slippery individual will attempt to take advantage of any situation sadly.
The location is a 20 minute walk to the edge of York, taxis will not go to Stakesby due to previous issues I believe.
Lastly, there were lots of stray/neighbours cats walking around and on a couple of occasions inside the flats, this was what lead to a slightly "funky" smell in flat 1 which bothered, but may be that's because I'm a dog person.
Keep looking folks!.
